A Christ-Centered, Bible-Believing, Family-Focused, Mission-Minded Church to call Home
Growing Kids God's Way
These commandments that I give you today
are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about
them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down
and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your
foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your
gates. Deuteronomy 6:6-10
ALONG THE
VIRTUOUS WAY (Growing Kids God's Way) is a comprehensive values-based parenting
curriculum. In the title the authors, Gary and Anne Marie Ezzo, place their
emphasis on God's Way meaning the way of the Lord. We serve an ethical God.
Moral rightness flows from His being. His moral law is a reflection of His holy
character (Psalm 19:7). More than that, He has shown man what is good and what
is required of him (Micah 6:8). Along the Virtuous Way can help any parent reach
the heart of children with virtues and values that flow from the character of
God and do it without stressing the child or the
parents.
What is Growing
Kids God’s Way?
1.
An 18 week
class that meets one night per week for about 2 hours
2.
Each class
consists of reviewing the previous week’s homework, watching the new lesson
(about a 30 min hour video) and then watching a question & answer session
(about 15 minutes on video).
2.
Grow moms and
dads through Biblical teaching and application to understand their
responsibility, given by God, to parent and raise morally responsible and
biblically responsive children.
3.
Give parents
the needed knowledge and skills to be confident in their marriage and parenting
so they can guide, nurture, and discipline their children to act and think
morally. Parents learn to separate truth from error and fact from
opinion.
4.
Challenge and
encourage moms and dads to value and apply what they have learned and to raise
children who control their own behavior, from their heart, and in accordance
with Biblical mandates or principles.
A
few of the covered topics are:
1.
How to get our
children beyond just acting morally right, but to think
morally.
2.
Using the
correct parenting methods and not being a legalistic parent and not being a
permissive parent
3.
The
significance of the husband-wife relationship in the life of the
child.
4.
We learn about
different love languages and how to communicate these love languages to those in
our family.
5.
We talk about
the significance of the father in the children’s lives and 8 primary duties of
the father is discussed.
6.
How to develop
your child’s conscience and get them to do right because “it’s right”, and not
out of potential guilt or punishment.
7.
Three lessons
are devoted to the respect of authority, parents, age, peers, property, and
nature.
8.
And much
more!
